Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Leadership and Management: Degree Overview

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration program with an emphasis in Leadership and Management at Warner Pacific University (WPU) can help you develop your skills in strategic leadership and analytical decision-making to be able to effectively manage teams and drive business performance in any industry.

The BS in Business Administration program is also available with emphasis areas in Healthcare Administration, Human Resource Management, and Entrepreneurship. Working adult learners with some college experience may want to consider the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration program, which has online and hybrid format options.

Balancing instruction in business theories with practical, hands-on experiences, WPU’s BS in Business Administration program with an emphasis in Leadership and Management covers key business topics in areas such as economics, employment law, and ethics, as well as core leadership and management concepts in fields that include managerial accounting, global business, and strategic management.

Upon successful completion of the bachelor’s in leadership and management program, graduates will demonstrate:

  • Effective leadership and team-oriented capabilities
  • Proficiency in the basic theories associated with management and leadership, such as those related to organizational theory and operations management

What Can You Do With a Bachelor’s in Leadership and Management?

Earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration that emphasizes leadership and management skills can position you for a number of professional roles that have responsibilities such as leading teams, coordinating projects, and supervising operations in a wide range of industries. 

Graduates of WPU’s BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, program have gone on to careers in budget management, marketing management, project management, and team leadership, as well as various graduate programs to build on their business knowledge.

Overall employment in management occupations is projected to grow at a faster-than-average rate of 6% from 2024 to 2034, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), with an estimated 1.1 million job openings expected each year.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, Curriculum

The BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, curriculum includes six prerequisite course credits, 30 major course credits, and 18 emphasis course credits. Of the 54 total required credits, 22 credits must be completed in residence at WPU, and 28 credits must be in upper-division courses. 

In order to earn a BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, at WPU, you need to do the following:

  • Complete all major course requirements and general education core course requirements with grades of at least C- in each course.
  • Complete a total of 120 credits, including at least 40 upper-division credits (300-level and 400-level courses).
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

Are there any items or appliances that I cannot bring with me to my living space?

Depending on where you live there are limits on what you can bring with you. Toasters and toaster ovens are not allowed in the residence halls, but there is a toaster in the Tabor Grind (our coffee shop) that students can use. The residence halls can have microwaves and mini-refrigerators for your use, but these items are not provided by the College.

Are there any specific medicines to prevent or treat the new coronavirus?

To date, there is no specific medicine recommended to prevent or treat the new coronavirus (COVID-19).However, those infected with the virus should receive appropriate care to relieve and treat symptoms, and those with severe illness should receive optimized supportive care. Some specific treatments are under investigation, and will be tested through clinical trials. WHO is helping to accelerate research and development efforts with a range or partners.

Are there any study spaces for me to use?

Both of our residence halls have lounges that can be utilized as study spaces. Additionally the University’s Library offers a quiet space for studying. The Library has quiet zones as well as classrooms that can be used when classes are not in session. The Library is also home to the Academic Success Center where students can go for tutoring or to study. In addition to both of these locations, Warner Pacific also has a 24 hour computer lab, located by the gym, where students study as well.

Are there expectations for campus residents?

Residents are expected to wear a mask at all times when outside of their residence hall room or apartment. When in social settings, physical distancing must be maintained at all times.

Are there visiting hours in the residence halls?

Yes. Smith and Warman Halls are subject to visiting hours. Visiting hours exist to maintain the privacy for women in Smith Hall and for men in Warman Hall. During the following times men and women can freely access either residence hall:

Sunday – Thursday: 1 p.m. ­– 10 p.m.

Friday – Saturday: 1 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Are we allowed to have guests stay over?

Yes. You are allowed three nights of guest visits. A guest is not allowed to stay on campus more than three nights. This rule is for both the residence halls and other living facilities. Guests who are spending the night must be the same gender as the person they are visiting.

As a student, do I have to live on campus?

Warner Pacific University education is not limited to the classroom experience. Living on campus provides opportunities for learning and engagement that are unique to the college environment.

All full-time students (12 credits or more) are required to live on-campus unless they are commuting from parent’s/legal guardian’s home, are at least 21 years of age by September 1, have established residency within a commutable distance for 12 months or longer, or are married.

Can an ultraviolet disinfection lamp kill the new coronavirus?

UV lamps should not be used to sterilize hands or other areas of skin as UV radiation can cause skin irritation.

Can I be charged for damages?

Yes. You and your roommates are responsible for any and all damages that occur while you are living in your space. Normal wear and tear is expected and will not be charged, but major damages will become the responsibility of the resident, including labor costs to have the damage fixed. In the residence halls you are not allowed to put more than 10 holes in your wall.

Can I make a payment to the University towards my outstanding balance using a portion or all of the CRRSAA Emergency Grant assistance I received?

You can make a payment on your outstanding balance at any time. WPU will not withhold any HEERF funds to cover balances.

Can I stay on campus during school breaks?

If you are a resident in the apartments or houses you can stay on campus during all breaks. The residence halls close down during Christmas Break because the dining hall is not open and the residence halls do not have fully functioning kitchens for students to cook.

Can I still visit the counseling center?

Yes. The Counseling Center staff are available for both virtual and in-person appointments this Fall. The center will schedule clients so that there is minimal interaction, and spaces are being reconfigured for appropriate distancing, ventilation, and sanitizing for in-person counseling.

Can Knights Care diagnose COVID-19?

Knights Care will virtually assess symptoms and administer frontline care in a contained environment to limit the spread of illness. They will also give recommendations on need for testing vs. self-quarantine, and where to go if testing or further care is needed.
