Warner Pacific University (WPU) has selected Canvas by Instructure as the new Enterprise Learning Management System, LMS, which will replace the OpenLMS that has been in use since 2006.  The selection of Canvas follows an extensive campus-wide review process involving several LMS options; Canvas emerged as the most preferred system.  Both OpenLMS and Canvas will be fully supported during the transition period and the University plans for Canvas to be available for live courses beginning in the Fall 2022 semester.

Robust user-training activities for faculty and students will be strategically implemented in advance of the Fall 2022 semester.

The interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Miriam Chitiga said she is delighted that WPU is moving to Canvas, a more comprehensive learning management system that she has used for many years elsewhere.  “Changing the LMS from OpenLMS to Canvas will greatly enhance learning and teaching for our students and faculty.  At other institutions, I have been involved in various successful LMS transitions, with the latest having been to Canvas.  Therefore, by frontloading both Canvas and tailor-made training for the WPU community, we are focused on making the change as smooth as possible for our students and faculty.”
