Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Leadership and Management: Degree Overview

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration program with an emphasis in Leadership and Management at Warner Pacific University (WPU) can help you develop your skills in strategic leadership and analytical decision-making to be able to effectively manage teams and drive business performance in any industry.

The BS in Business Administration program is also available with emphasis areas in Healthcare Administration, Human Resource Management, and Entrepreneurship. Working adult learners with some college experience may want to consider the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration program, which has online and hybrid format options.

Balancing instruction in business theories with practical, hands-on experiences, WPU’s BS in Business Administration program with an emphasis in Leadership and Management covers key business topics in areas such as economics, employment law, and ethics, as well as core leadership and management concepts in fields that include managerial accounting, global business, and strategic management.

Upon successful completion of the bachelor’s in leadership and management program, graduates will demonstrate:

  • Effective leadership and team-oriented capabilities
  • Proficiency in the basic theories associated with management and leadership, such as those related to organizational theory and operations management

What Can You Do With a Bachelor’s in Leadership and Management?

Earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration that emphasizes leadership and management skills can position you for a number of professional roles that have responsibilities such as leading teams, coordinating projects, and supervising operations in a wide range of industries. 

Graduates of WPU’s BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, program have gone on to careers in budget management, marketing management, project management, and team leadership, as well as various graduate programs to build on their business knowledge.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, Curriculum

The BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, curriculum includes six prerequisite course credits, 30 major course credits, and 18 emphasis course credits. Of the 54 total required credits, 22 credits must be completed in residence at WPU, and 28 credits must be in upper-division courses. 

In order to earn a BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, at WPU, you need to do the following:

  • Complete all major course requirements and general education core course requirements with grades of at least C- in each course.
  • Complete a total of 120 credits, including at least 40 upper-division credits (300-level and 400-level courses).
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

When can I pick up my books?

Textbooks packages will be available in the Student Life Center from 12:00pm to 5:00pm starting Thursday, January 12, 2023, Monday through Friday, until January 20, 2023. After January 20th, books will be available for pick up in the mailroom.

What if I registered late or added a class late?

Slingshot will send your books separate from the initial shipment, and it should arrive about a week after you add the class. Any late textbook packages will be available in the Student Life Center until end of day on Friday, January 20, 2023 then textbooks will be available in the Campus Mailroom.

What if I’m not on campus?

Please email the Mailroom.

What to expect?

Knights Orientation consists of presentations from several divisions (IT, Campus Safety, Student Financial Services, and Student Success and Engagement), a student panel, receiving your textbooks, ID, and an informational packet. Optional campus tours, specific to your class schedule, will be available at the end of the orientation.

How do I contact Accessibility Services?

Any student who has a documented disability that may require accommodation(s) to fully participate in university courses should contact the Student Success and Accessibilities Coordinator (wpuaccommodations@warnerpacific.edu) as soon as possible, preferably more than 30 days prior to the beginning of the semester which they are seeking accommodations.

When can I move into my on-campus unit?

Can I remove my meal plan?

Meal plans are required for most students. The Platinum Meal Plan is required for all residential students living in Smith and Warman Halls. The Gold Meal Plan is required for all residential students living in the apartments and houses. The Bronze Meal Plan is required for all Freshmen commuter students and the Commuter Meal Plan is required for all Sophomore and Junior commuter students. Any student required to purchase a meal plan may choose to upgrade to a higher meal plan. Please contact residencelife@warnerpacific.edu for more information.

Returned Payment Fees

All returned payments are assessed an additional $25 processing fee. If the account is delinquent when the check or credit card is returned, service charges plus a declined credit card or returned check fee will be charged to the student’s account. Warner Pacific University reserves the right to charge returned payment fees and service charges at any time.

Failure to Pay

Failure to complete payment of tuition and fees by the specified due date may result in administrative withdrawal from the program beginning with the student’s next scheduled course. Students administratively withdrawn from the University for financial reasons are responsible for paying their account in full before they may be re-admitted.

Requesting Financial Aid Excess Funds

If your financial aid award exceeds your cost of tuition, fees, and books, you may be eligible to receive excess funds. Check your student account three weeks after you begin classes in the term to see if funds have posted to your student account. If funds have posted to your account, Student Financial Services will audit your account and automatically refund excess funds within 14 days of the funds being posted. Refunds will be directly deposited to your bank account (look for an email from bill.com a few days after your financial aid has been posted to set up your direct deposit information), or a check will be mailed to the address on record. Please allow the full 14 days for processing before calling to check the status of your refund.  Typically, excess funds are refunded at the end of the first course of each semester the student attends.

What is next after I’ve been offered a student employment position?

Obtain a student employment packet from Student Financial Services in Upper Egtvedt and complete all paperwork. Once the completed paperwork has been submitted, Student Financial Services will process it and let your supervisor know when you are cleared to begin working. Employment eligibility documentation is required. Bring your picture ID and proof of citizenship/employment eligibility with you to campus to make it easier to complete the employment packet.

Withdrawing from a course may result in a student owed balance payable to Warner Pacific University. Please refer to the Attendance Policy in the Professional and Graduate Studies section of the University Catalog and in the course syllabus.

Note: Withdrawing from a course or changing the academic calendar may reduce or eliminate a financial aid award. Please consult with an Academic Advisor and Financial Aid Counselor prior to withdrawing from courses. Failure to return textbooks received for a dropped course will result in additional charges to the students WP account. Returning the textbook may be possible after the drop depending on the timing of the drop and the condition of the book.
