What is Knights Orientation?

Knights Orientation serves as Warner Pacific University’s official welcome to new students. Whether your journey into higher education begins or continues at WPU, Knights Orientation is an essential part of your undergraduate college experience, that provides a foundation for success, and is REQUIRED for all incoming undergraduate students.

During Knights Orientation, students will have the opportunity to interact with each other, while familiarizing themselves with campus to help develop a routine of campus life. The Division of Student Success and Engagement oversees Knights Orientation programming and facilitation. There are a number of events scheduled across campus to assist with acclimation. Thus, Knights Orientation serves as an opportunity for growing our community to authentically encounter and embrace all students, with all of your gifts, knowledge, and distinctiveness.

Knights Orientation Schedule

Knights Orientation begins on January 12, 2023 at 9:00AM in Egt. 203. Move in will take place for new residential students on January 11, 2023 from 12:00PM – 4:00PM.

Knights Orientation is required for ALL new students! If you are unable to attend or have questions, please email knightsorientation@warnerpacific.edu.

Pre-Arrival Tasks and Resources

Log into MyWP.warnerpacific.edu – IT will be happy to assist you with your Warner Pacific University Technology-related issues and accounts. Please visit the IT HelpDesk website to create a ticket or call 503-517-1399. If you have questions, please contact Campus Safety at campussafety@warnerpacific.edu

Parking Permit Registration – All vehicles parked on campus by students or employees must be registered with the Campus Safety department and display a valid permit. Vehicles that are unregistered or do not display a permit are not permitted to park on campus. Visitors may obtain a guest permit free of charge from the Campus Safety office. Parking Permits are $65 per semester and can be charged to your student account.

Faith and Service Commitment form – All students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours are required to participate in the Faith and Service Commitment Program. Students in the Adult Degree Program, Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Education Students, students in their student teaching semester, and master’s level candidates are exempt from these requirements.

How to get connected at WPU! 

COVID-19 reporting and notifications

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is asked to report this to WPU’s COVID-19 Response Team. The person reporting will be asked when they were last on campus and additional questions in order to facilitate contact tracing. If contact tracing results in information that another person has had close contact (generally fifteen minutes or more within 6 feet or less) with the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, that person will be contacted by the team. Warner Pacific University will keep the community updated on active cases through our COVID-19 dashboard.

Institutional Liability

The University will not be responsible for damage to or loss of personal belongings which are a result of fire, wind, water, insects, rodents, vandalism or theft. However, when damage or loss is reported, the university will take reasonable steps to attempt to resolve the problem. Students are encouraged to make sure personal belongings are covered by their parent’s homeowner’s policy or a renter’s insurance policy.

FAQ

When can I pick up my books?

Textbooks packages will be available in the Student Life Center from 12:00pm to 5:00pm starting Thursday, January 12, 2023, Monday through Friday, until January 20, 2023. After January 20th, books will be available for pick up in the mailroom.

What if I registered late or added a class late?

Slingshot will send your books separate from the initial shipment, and it should arrive about a week after you add the class. Any late textbook packages will be available in the Student Life Center until end of day on Friday, January 20, 2023 then textbooks will be available in the Campus Mailroom.

What if I’m not on campus?

Please email the Mailroom.

What to expect?

Knights Orientation consists of presentations from several divisions (IT, Campus Safety, Student Financial Services, and Student Success and Engagement), a student panel, receiving your textbooks, ID, and an informational packet. Optional campus tours, specific to your class schedule, will be available at the end of the orientation.

How do I contact Accessibility Services?

Any student who has a documented disability that may require accommodation(s) to fully participate in university courses should contact the Student Success and Accessibilities Coordinator (wpuaccommodations@warnerpacific.edu) as soon as possible, preferably more than 30 days prior to the beginning of the semester which they are seeking accommodations.

When can I move into my on-campus unit?

Can I remove my meal plan?

Meal plans are required for most students. The Platinum Meal Plan is required for all residential students living in Smith and Warman Halls. The Gold Meal Plan is required for all residential students living in the apartments and houses. The Bronze Meal Plan is required for all Freshmen commuter students and the Commuter Meal Plan is required for all Sophomore and Junior commuter students. Any student required to purchase a meal plan may choose to upgrade to a higher meal plan. Please contact residencelife@warnerpacific.edu for more information.
