Adelante Grant to Cultivate the Teaching Workforce in High-needs Areas

Funded Tuition Assistance Program for Future Special Education or Bilingual Teachers
WPU invites community college transfer students to apply for the Adelante grant program to complete licensed teaching degrees in Special Education OR Bilingual Education. The grant offers tuition assistance for a maximum of two years for students enrolled in the WPU SPED degree pathway OR who are fluent in Spanish and committed to receiving the State Seal of Biliteracy.
To apply students must commit to a teacher education pathway of study for Special Education or Bilingual Teaching Licensure. Students who meet the criteria and are interested in this opportunity must complete the following steps:
Step 1. Apply Online to WPU
Apply online to the free WPU general admission application at https://www.warnerpacific.edu/admissions-aid/admission-requirements/. You will apply to Adult Degree Admission, click on First time user and Create Account. Follow all instructions to complete the application and submit your transcripts.
Step 2. Apply to the Adelante Tuition Assistance Grant Link:
Apply online to the Adelante Tuition Assistance Grant application https://www.warnerpacific.edu/adelante-grant-application/. (Note, the application requires you to upload a recommendation letter from your school district and write a short essay.)
Step 3. Apply to FAFSA support and the Oregon Teacher Scholars Programs (OTSP)
Apply to FAFSA online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa and the (OTSP) at https://oregonstudentaid.gov/grants/oregon-teacher-scholars-program-grant/. The Adelante grant provides gap funding for students who have already received some funding from FAFSA and OTSP.
Step 4 . IF pursuing Bilingual Licensure (not SPED) Demonstrate Spanish Fluency:
This grant honors Spanish speaking skills, which are needed in the community! Students can demonstrate Spanish proficiency by showing their State Seal of Biliteracy score, or have an informal proficiency conversation at WPU or on Zoom at WPU and enroll in the WPU Spanish for Heritage Class to take the Seal of Biliteracy exam. Step 5. Meet with an Academic Advisor and Maintain Eligibility:
Meet with a WPU academic advisor regularly to assure progress in your academic plan and that you have the support you need on the pathway to your teaching degree.
