Beginning this fall, Warner Pacific University’s School of Education will launch a new online Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education (BSED) that will offer students the opportunity to earn a teaching license with Elementary Multiple Subjects and Special Education Generalist endorsements. This will allow new teachers to either choose to take an elementary school or secondary (middle school or high school) path.

The BSED prepares candidates to obtain an Oregon Preliminary Teaching License with Elementary Multiple Subjects, equipping students to be able to teach at the elementary school level. The degree also provides a K-12 Special Education Generalist endorsement, preparing students as well for teaching at the secondary school level in Special Education.

“This is a unique opportunity for students to be able to prepare for credentialing at either the elementary or secondary levels, with unique endorsements,” said Jeannie Ray-Timoney, Dean of the School of Education. “Our synchronous online program will offer students the opportunity to interact with our experienced and well-qualified faculty in all of their classes and receive preparation and practice on-site, in the school classroom.”

Warner Pacific’s Adelante Grant provides tuition assistance for up to two years to qualified students. The grant supports those pursuing the special education degree pathway as well as students who are fluent in Spanish and committed to earning the State Seal of Biliteracy. This initiative helps prepare educators in both special education and bilingual education fields.

The School of Education has also introduced two new fully online endorsement programs for qualified students:

Cohorts for the new online BSED degree will begin October 16. The new online endorsements will begin in September.
