Dr. Sergei Polozov graduated from Moscow State Pedagogical University (Russia) with a dual degree in Biology and Earth Science. He did his Ph.D. research on ecology and behavior of birds in Turkmenistan, and was a university professor for thirteen years before coming to the United States in 1993. After teaching for twenty-six years at Concordia University-Portland, he joined Warner Pacific University in 2021 and he currently serves as a Dean of College of Arts and Sciences, Director of the Honors Program, and a Professor of Biology. He did research and taught Field Biology and Environmental Science in forty-six countries including an around the world educational voyage. He participated in a variety of international projects on science, education, and mass media; hosted a radio show on conservation in Russia and the USA, and a TV show on nature (receiving the MacArthur Foundation award for an original TV show concept). He published numerous research articles on ornithology and conservation, chapters in several monographs, and two non-fiction books on nature and intercultural communication. He belongs to the Pacific Northwest and continues to explore its natural wonders incorporating local content into his teaching.
