During this monthly event, Warner Pacific faculty and staff gather for a brief presentation and discussion on a relevant teaching and learning topic.
Typically presenters come from the WPC community and have an expertise in the selected discussion topic.
This is intended to be an interactive, participatory event with the opportunity for considering how to implement these ideas and practices into the classroom.
- Topic: Scholarship of Teaching and Diversity: How? lived experience and application.
In this concluding Fall Faculty Forum, we will be discussing how we go about infusing the topic of diversity in and through our courses.Building on last month’s consideration of what diversity means within liberal arts education (see the attached materials from the AAC&U on “Intercultural Knowledge and Competence”) we will be sharing how this core theme is integrated into WPC courses – in both traditional and ADP settings.
Come to this week’s discussion with specific course-related examples (e.g. reading materials, assignments, in-class activities, videos, and projects) that you use to introduce, discuss, and frame issues regarding diversity (including class-based, cultural, gender, racial).
Our time together will focus on practical ideas and applications of “how” we go about teaching the subject of diversity.
- Date: Wednesday, December 3, 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
