|Marshall Haskins ’85 majored in accounting; however, he followed friends into the field of education. After successful years of coaching basketball at Warner Pacific and Jefferson High School, Marshall became the vice principal at Franklin High School. Everyday, he works to create systems and build relationships that foster accountability between kids, their parents, and the school staff.Believing academics and athletic go hand-in-hand is never more evident since Marshall was named the Portland Public Schools athletic director in August 2013.|
|Jesse James ’09 and ’12 earned his B.S. in Human Development and then went on to obtain his M.S. in Management & Organizational Leadership through the Adult Degree Program.Jesse is the Executive Director and Administrator for Firwood Gardens, a residential care facility in Portland. |Nicole Wells ’98 majored in music theory and composition. As an active member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association, Nicole is having success as a songwriter and music teacher.In 2013, she was awarded the grand prize from the West Coast Songwriters at the live competition finals in the category for Best Song.Nicole competed against songwriters from three West Coast states and with her song, “I Know it’s You,” she became the first Portland district winner to win the grand finals. |Jim Band ’04 earned his B.S. in Human Development through the Adult Degree Program. As the Chief of Police for Oregon City, Ore., Jim works with a wide variety of people. He helps them find solutions through creative problem-solving.Jim attributes his greatest growth in working with people and learning to negotiate through differing views to his ADP group projects. |Danielle Purdy ’08 is a local actress and singer. You might catch her onstage at the Broadway Rose Theatre, Portland Playhouse, or Portland Center Stage. She has a B.A. in Music Performance (voice) and earned a masters degree in Music in the Community from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where she studied music through social science and neuroscience. |Heather Phillips ’06 is using her B.S. in Social Work, Religion and Ministries, and Human Development to positively impact the residents in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood. She is the Executive Director of City Crossroads Ministries, an organization that provides after-school programming, enrichment services, and a safe haven for multi-ethnic, low-income families.
