Need a car? No problem. Warner Pacific is now hosting two Zipcars on campus.
Residents of outer Southeast Portland have a new neighborhood transportation resource from Zipcar, Inc., the world’s leading car sharing network. The vehicles are parked in the 68th Avenue parking lot on the Mt. Tabor campus of Warner Pacific College at 2219 SE 68th Avenue.
Zipcar, available throughout Portland, is designed to supplement public and personal transit options in a cost-effective and smart mode of transport. Members are able to reserve cars that are located closest to their homes or workplaces. Each member is given a Zipcard, which allows them to unlock and use their reserved car. Zipcar’s simple hourly and daily rates include gas, reserved parking spots, insurance, and up to 180 miles of driving per day.
“We are excited to be able to offer this resource to our students and to the greater southeast Portland community,” said Dale Seipp, Jr., Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing at Warner Pacific College. “Many of our students travel by bike or use public transportation on a daily basis, so easy access to Zipcars will provide our community with a simple option for those times when having a car would be helpful, without having to worry about the hassle and expense of vehicle ownership.”
Members can make a reservation using Zipcar’s smart phone app, online, or over the phone and reserve a car starting at about $8 per hour. Students at Warner Pacific will have their application fee waived and qualify for a first year reduced-rate membership of $15. To apply for a new student membership, go to zipcar.com/warnerpacific.
