We are welcoming a record number of 250 new freshmen and transfer students to campus during the 2014 Welcome Weekend beginning Saturday, August 23.
“We are excited that so many students selected Warner Pacific College for the next step in their educational journey,” said Dale Seipp, Jr., vice president for enrollment and marketing. “We are eager to welcome this diverse group of young people to our community, to hear their stories, share in their dreams, and engage in a collaborative learning experience to help them flourish academically, socially, spiritually, and have great impact in their community.”
Welcome Weekend is a time of transition for all new students. They are leaving the comforts of home and stepping into a new and different world. The activities and informative sessions offered during this first official weekend as a college student are designed to foster new friendships, answer questions, alleviate anxiety, and build anticipation for their first class.
Students will also be introduced to the College’s four core themes: Christ-centered, urban, diverse, and liberal-arts.
While Warner Pacific’s new students come from all over the Portland-metro area and the Pacific Northwest as well as from across the country and world, they all become Knights on Saturday evening. During a time-honored tradition full of pageantry, Dr. Andrea Cook, president of Warner Pacific College, bestows the title of Knight on each and every new student in a special ceremony.
Students will also have a chance to explore Portland during Warner Pacific’s traditional “City Search” scavenger hunt on Sunday afternoon.
Warner Pacific recognizes and embraces the diversity of our campus. During the weekend, students will learn more about the richness of multiculturalism, the connections made by joining a club, the encouragement from staff and faculty, the fullness of serving others, and the depth of our commitment to ensuring every Warner Pacific student flourishes.
Seipp encourages incoming students to fully engage in all activities offered during this orientation weekend. “You’ll be able to look back at these few days down the road and realize that was where you first met some of your best friends,” said Seipp.
