Warner Pacific College launched a new Urban Studies Bachelor of Science degree in 2009. The program provides students with opportunities to study and engage with the social, political, economic and spiritual forces that shape human life in urban settings. With a majority of the world's population now living in cities, and that trend only expected to continue globally, it’s critical for students
to comprehend the context in which they will be serving throughout their careers.
Warner Pacific is looking for courageous, compassionate, forward-thinking students who want to make a profound difference in the lives of others in urban settings in North America and the world. The Urban Studies Program offers a major and minor, and can be a smart second major for students seeking careers in education, business, ministry, the sciences, social work or the liberal arts.
Three qualities make the Urban Studies Program at Warner Pacific unique:
Being “urban” is not solely a matter of geographic location. It’s also about seeing the city as the context that determines the content of our existence. Warner Pacific is committed to serving as a catalyst for urban transformation through relevant, hands-on learning experiences. As college president Andrea P. Cook, Ph.D. said in her 2009 inauguration address, “The city is a lens through which we view our mission.”
Warner Pacific College is grateful for the support of the Collins Foundation, whose three-year grant helped establish the Urban Studies Program.
