SIFE Team Wins Regional

The Warner Pacific College SIFE Team was selected League 1 Champions at the regional competition in Seattle on March 30th.

Colleges and universities in the United States that have an active SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) program are invited to send a team to one of 11 Regional Competitions held around the country. Through a written annual report and live audiovisual presentation, teams will report the results of their community outreach projects to panels of business leaders serving as judges. The teams are evaluated based on how successful they were at using business concepts to improve the quality of life and standard of living for those in need.

sife4webTwelve WPC business students were part of the team that competed at the 2012 event. Dr. Roger Martin is the supervising faculty and came away very impressed with the group. "Five of our business students stood up in front of 10 corporate judges and presented information about Warner Pacific, our students, our program, and our accomplishments. They were poised, articulate, mature, and technically astute. They represented their faith, education, and themselves in a way that demonstrated the fact that faculty at Warner Pacific are doing their job. Not just business faculty, but our religion, science, humanities, education, and social science departments are all having an incredible impact on these young people. These students were well educated and well prepared. I was very proud of them, and this demonstrated to me the importance of teaching business in a liberal arts environment."

Competing teams are divided among separate leagues, with approximately five to seven teams per league. On average, two or three teams from each league will be named regional champions and qualify for the SIFE USA National Exposition.

In addition to the competition, an all-day career fair and the Top to Future-Top Forum held during lunch further enhance the unique connections these events create among the student, academic and business leaders in attendance.
