Service at WPCommunity involvement through service is one way the Warner Pacific community shows its commitment to being "For the City." Opportunities exist for everyone in that community, from faculty, administration and staff to students attending classes at all of WP's campuses across greater Portland and Vancouver.
The mission of the Service Learning Office is to connect students to the surrounding community in preparation for lives of leadership and public service. We work to build strong community relationships, intentionally seeking out projects that benefit of our partners while simultaneously fulfilling needs within the community. We endeavor to fuse intellectual thought and personal faith into acts of social justice, whereby students become more aware of social concerns and of the responsibility to those as urban and global citizens.
Adult Degree Program students have experienced a lot, and have a lot to give. Adult students see the benefit of investing into their communities, because they are respected members of those communities. Join us to mentor, teach, and influence youth in Portland Public Schools, or celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by serving with your classmates and professors. This page exists to provide opportunities to serve and celebrate the service you are already doing.
Service also can open doors for scholarships, internships and employment by teaching new skills, expanding your networks, and allowing you to apply your classroom learning to real life situations.
Service at Warner Pacific College is work that is done to the benefit of those who are within personal proximity and experiencing poverty in some way. This philosophy is rooted within the Judeo-Christian tradition, and the command given by Christ to love one's neighbor and to care for the least in our society. Students are introduced to meaningful civic engagement and encouraged to explore compassion by getting involved in the lives of others.
