ADP Financial Aid Team Assists Local Non-Profit

On Friday, May 13th, the ADP Financial Aid team spent the afternoon serving with Growing Gardens. Since 1996, Growing Gardens has been building a unique and sustainable strategy to address nutrition, food insecurity and risk factors for poor health in our community. The FA team assisted with transplanting plant starts including cucumbers, summer squash, winter squash, tomatoes, kale, collard greens, cabbage, various peppers, zucchini, and eggplant for the Home Garden Program.

The team appreciated the opportunity to get out into the neighborhood and work together as a team to pursue the college’s urban mission. Participants included: Mark Beekman, Lance Chamberlain, Jessica Couser, Jennifer Richardson, and Rachel Graham from the Center 205 Campus, and Tammy Bloomstrom, Amanda Bartlett, and Elizabeth Zabel from the Cascade Campus.

“Limited income households don’t always have the option to put fresh nutritious food on the table,” said Home Garden Organizer Nat Lichten. “The Home Garden Program decreases chances of food insecurity by empowering low-income families to grow food for themselves, friends and neighbors in their own back yard,”
