ADP Faculty and Staff Donate School Supplies

adp donates suppliesChris TokonitzOn August 31, 2011, the staff and faculty of the Adult Degree Program donated school supplies in exchange for a gourmet breakfast hosted at Warner Pacific's Cascade campus.

The event was directed and run by Chris Tokonitz, Assistant Professor and Academic Counselor.

The school supplies will be given to City Team Ministries, which will distribute them to children throughout the Portland metro area. The event was inspired by Tokonitz’s son, an 8th grader this year, who has given away his school supplies to classmates. In the event invitation, Tokonitz noted that half of all Portland School students start the school year without adequate school supplies. She estimates that $500-$600 in school supplies and cash were donated at the event.

The food was generously donated by Safeway, who contributed $100 toward the breakfast paninis, fruit, and coffee. Cathy Peterson (ADP Asst Prof / Academic Counselor), Chris Tokonitz, and Mark Beekman (Associate Director of Financial Aid for ADP) prepared the breakfast.
