Finding Books in the WPC Library
There are two ways to search for books that are relevant to HUM 210 in the WPC Library.
- Select the "Books" tab and "Warner Pacific College Library" from the drop-down menu in the Library Catalog searchbox. Then search for the word "bioethics."
- Search for the word "bioethics" in the Classic Catalog.
Borrowing From Other Libraries
If you need sources which are not in our library, you have three options:
- Use the Library Catalog searchbox and select "Summit" in the drop-down menu. This will search more than 35 libraries in Oregon and Washington. Click on the title of the book that you want, then click the blue "Request Summit Item" button and fill out your contact info. It will be delivered within 5 days to the WPC Library for you to pick up. You may keep the item for up to 6 weeks. Copies of periodical articles are yours to keep.
- For an even broader search, select "Libraries Worldwide" in the drop-down menu. This will search over 10,000 libraries around the world. Click on the title of the book that you want, then click the blue "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" button and fill out your contact info. It will be delivered within 2 weeks to the WPC Library for you to pick up. Loan periods depend on the lending library. Copies of periodical articles are yours to keep.
- Visit another library in the Portland area. Your WPC ID card allows you to check out books for free at many other academic libraries.
Database Searching
Note: The links above will lead you to digitized versions of articles, essays, and research that once also appeared in print. Information found in one of the above online databases should be cited as a book or journal article, rather than as a web page -- even though you access them through the internet.
Internet Resources
If you want to do academic research in the wild world of the Web, you'd better make sure your sources are trustworthy and credible. Use this helpful guide to evaluate what you find.
